STORY
“ We walked through lush foliage, guided by the sound of cascading water. As we emerged from the woods, we found ourselves surrounded by damselflies dancing in the air. What we saw next was breathtaking. Before us stood the majestic Jarrauds waterfall. “
There’s something magical about this place, with flowing water, reflections, glowing light, and rich natural tones that change with the seasons, creating a captivating atmosphere that is both vibrant and peaceful. This place is also filled with memories, as I often spend time here enjoying refreshing baths and the peaceful wisdom of nature with my family and friends.

STORY
A series of six framed handwoven works. When I bought my land, I was so excited about the idea of being surrounded by fir trees. During the first winters, I used to admire those forests that stayed green and dense and I loved strolling through them. One day, during a hike with my dogs, I came across something very sad, as all the huge fir trees in this area had been clear-cut. Since then, the landscape has been constantly changing.
Vanishing landscape #1 - It starts with dark brown patches here and there, and then, little by little, they spread across the hills. I fear the day when the forest behind my cottage will be cut down.

Vanishing landscape #2 - When going to forage mushrooms, we walk across a majestic forest of fire trees.
Away from the heat, we follow a moss-covered path and we go through shades of lush green. The atmosphere is simply magical, but one day, all this natural beauty will disappear.

Vanishing landscape #3 - Three years ago, they finally cut down several patches of trees where we pick mushrooms. Now, every time we take the road up to our cottage, we see a gaping hole in the little mountain where the chanterelles grow.

Vanishing landscape #4 - On a path in the woods, there was a large fir tree trunk lying across the path, high up. We would sit the kids who were visiting for vacation on it to take a funny picture. Now, this place is empty.

Vanishing landscape #5 - At first, it was a mess of cut tree trunks covered in tall grass and thorns. Over the years, this lifeless landscape has finally changed as young fir trees have sprouted from the herbs. Now, another forest is slowly replacing the mess.

Vanishing landscape #6 - That’s probably the area where the most logging took place, it left a huge gap, so big that the sky fills the entire space and the forest looks tiny on the horizon. I don’t like hiking there.

STORY
A series of four framed hand-tufted works. Petite Prairie captures the gently sloping hill behind my cottage.
A place I stare at each time I sit on the patio with a cup of coffee, where wildflowers are swaying across the meadow, and sometimes I see deer crossing by.
It’s like a little ritual : we arrive at the cottage, unpack, settle in, and then I walk up the hill, as if to make sure nothing has changed.

This hill is covered with wild thyme, which is just beginning to bloom at the beginning of summer, and it turns purple-blue. I love taking walks in this place, where the air is filled with an aromatic scent, it is so calming.

A place I stare at each time I sit on the patio with a cup of coffee, where wildflowers are swaying across the meadow, and sometimes I see deer crossing by.
Every time I step into the meadow, a deep sense of peace washes over me. I lie down, the grass wraps around me and the clouds are slowly passing by, taking on every shape my mind can imagine. At night, I lie down again. I’m so far from the crowded cities that I feel as though I’m traveling through the Milky Way.

On top of this hill, there’s a flat granite stone covered in lichen, hidden by wild thyme and grasses. From there, I take in the view of my land, seeing smoke rising from the neighbors’ fireplaces in winter. I look out at the deep, dark forest and I feel the silence.
